Vintage Design

A finely crafted Arts & Crafts oak side chair, England c.1880, inset with an original Minton ceramic tile depicting a Cinderella Jester scene in soft sepia glaze. The design exemplifies Minton’s late-Victorian artistry and the era’s fascination with medieval storytelling.

The chair retains its original hand-rubbed patina, a pierced Gothic crest rail, and turned legs typical of the Gothic Revival’s architectural detailing.

Rare to find with both its original Minton tile and untouched finish, this piece bridges Arts & Crafts craftsmanship and rustic English elegance, ideal for refined farmhouse or collector interiors.

Minor age characteristics include a small corner loss to the seat, a fine shrinkage line, and discreet wax retouching to the outer crest points where small chips were lost. T

The chair is sturdy, honest, and richly atmospheric — an exceptional survivor from the golden age of English decorative craftsmanship.
