About This Piece

Vintage Design

Antique English pair of late Regency to early Victorian side chairs in rich mahogany, c.1835–1850.

The design carries a refined Regency design, gently sabered back legs, shaped front rails with rounded corner blocks, and finely turned, reeded forelegs that give the pair an upright, architectural presence.

The backrests are particularly attractive, each with a shaped tablet panel framed by triple-moulded edges and light feathering to the grain.

The seats are fully removable, traditionally upholstered in an ochre-rust damask with classical motifs. Their compact proportions make them ideal accent chairs for a salon, hallway, or bedroom, while the warm, polished mahogany provides an easy fit into both period and contemporary interiors.

The mahogany has developed an attractive deep patina, with small age-related marks and expected surface wear from over a century of use.

Both chairs are sturdy and structurally sound and ready for use.
