A large French Louis XVI style mantel in superior quality and highly variegated Breche Violette marble. The cantered jambs with acanthus leaf and square Paterae ormolu adornment. The wide bow fronted frieze with stop flutes and again richly decorated with ormolu flowers, beneath a wide break fronted and bowed shelf. The colour of the marble so vivid and striking, with the rich adornment making this an excellent example of this type of fireplace. Measures: Opening 125cm W x 87cm H.
