About This Piece

Vintage Design

In Danish called "stolpeskab". In very good working condition with no structual damages. Only patinated as the pictures show.

It was used for the households/farms important papers, silver cutlery or the brandy.

The middle part is the oldest and is most likely from around 1700. Likely to think that it is from a bigger farm or manor house.

This very old cabinet is made in individual boxes. Top, bottom and middle part. Also the 2 sculptures are not fixed to the cabinet.

Is is meant that the middle part with the door is original the oldest part. Later on is added the top (before 1852), and also the bottom legs. Sculptures is also a later add on.

All locks are working perfectly and there is a key for every door. Hidden rooms inside and room for storage for important papers.

A story from the farm the cabinet is from:
"Niels Nielsen lived on a farm on the small island called “Moen” (Møn) in the south of Sealand in Denmark. He arrived to the small fishermen village Lund (south Stevns, Denmark) I 1852 and the only thing he brought was this cabinet from the farm he used to live at. He stored small nails, screws and tools in it."
