Nicolas De Corsi (Odessa, 1882 – Torre del Greco, 1956) was an Italian painter. The son of the Italian consul in the Ukrainian city of Odessa and Emma Suppinich, he was born in 1882. A year after his birth, his father died, and two years later his mother remarried the Spanish nobleman Gutierrez, who was also a consul in Russia. The following year, the entire family moved to Madrid, where the young painter received his training. In 1896, following the death of his stepfather, he traveled to Italy, specifically to Rome, where he first attended the private Academy of St. Lucia (from which he was later expelled) and then the evening school of the Artistic Circle, and to Naples. In 1900, the painter went on vacation to Torre del Greco (an event that proved to be very significant in the painter’s life). He subsequently participated in numerous exhibitions (National Fine Arts Exhibition in Milan; Salon d’Automne in Paris; 9th Venice International Exhibition; Rome Quadriennale). In 1930, his mother passed away, and in 1934, the painter moved permanently to Torre del Greco. He left the town near Vesuvius only in 1940, when he was evacuated to Vico Equense, returning in 1945.
