Its name translating as ‘designed antiquity,’ Modernariato sells signed-only French and Italian designs, with some pieces from further afield. The collection specializes in lighting from the latter half of the 20th century, including designs from Magistretti, Castiglioni, Scarpa, Fornasetti, Guzzini, Guariche, Motte, Loewy, Tallon and Paulin. The Modernariato boutique was founded in Paris in 2012 by Beatrice Brengues. A graduate of history of art, specialising in decorative arts and sculpture, Beatrice worked in the renowned auction house Hôtel Drouot for 10 years before opening Modernariato.
