Ben Jones

Providence, United States

Born in 1977, Ben Jones is a Los Angeles-based multidisciplinary artist. Jones grew up in Massachusetts, playing drums and riding BMX bikes. He holds a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art (1999). His work combines painting, drawing, sculpture, cartooning, and video in pieces that juxtapose mass-produced and handmade elements, often in fantasy-based landscapes. Notable series include Beehaven; a collection of neon-colored furniture objects—a dog bench, ladders, and cube-shaped seats or tables—inspired by memories of visits to his grandfather’s lake house in western Pennsylvania.

In addition to his independent work, Jones is a founding member of the collective Paper Rad, known for new-media graphics, videos, music, and comic zines. Exhibiting widely, and to significant acclaim, his exhibitions and screenings include: MOCA, Los Angeles (solo); The Modern, Fort Worth (solo); Loyal, Malmo (solo); Deitch Projects, New York (solo); The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; Tate Britain, London; Musee d' Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris/ARC, Paris; Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco; and The Liverpool Biennial, Liverpool.

Jones is represented by Ace Gallery Los Angeles.
