Brunno Jahara

Designer Brunno Jahara was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1979. He studied industrial design at the University of Brasilia between 1997 and 2002, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree. In 2002, he moved to Italy, where he earned his postgraduate diploma in industrial design from the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia. After his studies, between 2003 and 2005, Jahara worked in the design department at Fabrica, an esteemed communications research center in Treviso, Italy. While there, he developed collections for a variety of clients as well as for Fabrica itself. He then traveled extensively, working as a design consultant and art director for the likes of Italian architect Flavio Albanese’s ASA Studioalbanese and DM9DDB’s innovation department in Brazil. He established Jahara Studio in 2009 with spaces in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Jahara’s work reflects both global and local inspiration as well as the multicultural world we live in today. His work ranges from furniture and unique objects to product design and installations. His pieces often incorporate unexpected and even repurposed materials as well as organic shapes inspired by Brazilian tropical history; most pieces are unique. Notable projects include Batucada (2010), Multiplastica (2012), and Transatlantica (2012), among others.

To date, Jahara’s work has been included in exhibitions at the Milan Furniture Fair, the Venice Architecture Biennale, and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, as well as at design weeks across the globe.

He divides his time between São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
