RUIZSOLAR

Santiago, Chile

RUIZSOLAR is an architecture, design, and construction firm established in 2006 in Santiago, Chile by partners Matias Ruiz (born in Santiago in 1979) and Eric Solar (born in Concepción, Chile in 1977). Ruiz is an architect and designer; Solar specializes in construction. The pair met while working on a residential building project for AE Arquitectos in 2005.

The studio’s aesthetic is modern and minimal. Taking on clients in both the public and private spheres, standout projects to date include the M100 Chair (2012), made from 90 meters of twisted polypropylene rope and 10 meters of ribbed steel bar, and Casa Guayacán (2010), an elevated, single family home situated in Chile’s Maipo Valley.

The studio has participated in a number of exhibitions, and was awarded first prize in the Chilean lighting competition Luz para la Vivienda in 2013.
