About This Piece

Eliška Bartek – Vanitas. Flower Paintings on Canvas

Eliška Bartek's flower paintings on canvas are rooted in the vanitas tradition, combining captivating beauty with a profound reflection on transience. In her large-format works, blossoms appear in vibrant colors and with intense presence. Yet behind their apparent perfection lies the reminder that each flower exists only for a short time – a symbol of the finiteness of all life.

Bartek's floral motifs are far more than mere decorative representations. They explore the delicate balance between life and death, blossoming and decay, beauty and destruction. In doing so, the artist connects to the classical vanitas tradition, translating it into a contemporary visual language full of light, color, and emotional intensity.
