About This Piece

Vintage Design

An exceptional 19th century French hand-carved giltwood mirror of outstanding craftsmanship, showcasing the elegance and refinement of the Rococo Revival period. This impressive mirror features an elaborately carved wooden frame with beautifully executed floral decorations, flowing acanthus leaves, roses, and sculptural scroll ornaments. The quality of the carving is remarkable: every detail was created by hand, giving the frame a wonderful depth and three-dimensional appearance. The richly decorated surface demonstrates the skill of a highly talented artisan, with an elegant balance between movement, symmetry, and natural forms. The mirror retains its beautiful original gilding with an exceptional aged patina. Over many decades, the gold surface has developed a warm, authentic character with subtle variations, natural wear, and a wonderful antique glow that cannot be recreated artificially. The combination of original gilding and visible age gives this piece its unique charm and historical authenticity. As expected from an antique hand-carved wooden mirror of this age, there are small losses to some of the delicate carved elements and minor age-related imperfections. These details do not disturb the overall appearance; rather, they underline the authenticity, history, and untouched character of this extraordinary piece. The deep carved construction gives the mirror an impressive sculptural presence, with a depth of approximately 8 cm (3.15 in), creating beautiful shadows and emphasizing the richness of the craftsmanship. A highly decorative and timeless statement piece, perfect for sophisticated interiors — from classic French and European interiors to Hollywood Regency, Palm Beach, or contemporary luxury spaces.

Dimensions: Height: 80 cm (31.5 in) Width: 57 cm (22.4 in) Depth: 8 cm (3.15 in) Condition: Very good antique condition with original age-related patina. Original gilded surface preserved. Minor losses and signs of age consistent with a hand-carved wooden mirror from the 19th century, contributing to its authentic antique character.
