Vintage Design

2 Very beautiful and rare pieces of glass art/bowls from the 1930-40s, by Pierre d'Avesn (signed P d'Avesn and made in France).

Pierre Gire, also known as Pierre d'Avesn (1901-1984)

In the beginning, when he was 14 years old, he worked for Rene Lalique. For 10 years. During this period he designed Lalique's famous 'Serpent' vase and the 'Tourbillons' vase, two of Lalique's most valuable and extremely collectible works.

In 1926 he left René Lalique and created his own models.

Undoubtedly the most important French glassmaker in cast glass art next to René Lalique and Sabino.

The large bowl measures: 8 cm high, 18 cm in diameter and weighs 1680 grams. (Signed)

The small bowl measures: 4 cm in height, 8 cm in diameter and weighs 255 grams (Unsigned)
