Vintage Design

High quality enamel sign of the Italian bicycle brand Bianchi, made in Milan around 1950. The sign is unrestored and in very nice condition. Size 85x55cm Edoardo Bianchi opened his own store in 1885 on Via Nirone in Milan . At first he repaired bicycles, then he made some himself and on order other equipment such as surgical instruments and wheelchairs for the disabled. One of his first developments was the reduction of the front wheel and the use of the chain invented by the Frenchman Vincent to reduce the pedal height. Thus, he created a safe and modern bicycle. It was, compared to its predecessors, much easier to ride as the balance was easier to maintain. He continued to improve the bicycle and developed a design with wheels of almost the same size. In 1888 he produced the first bicycle with Dunlop tires.
