Italian Neoclassical Walnut Commode with Inlay and Burl Veneer

Neoclassical commode hand-made and hand-carved in Italy in the mid 1700s. The comò comes from the region of Lazio and has beautiful proportions and elegant lines. The commode features three drawers, the bottom two are larger and have handles for opening and closing. The top drawer is thinner and can be opened only by pressing a latch incorporated into the drawer bottom and accessible by opening the second drawer. The drawers all show beautiful and large hand-made dovetail joints. The drawer fronts are decorated with a thin, rectangular inlaid cherry line framed by crossbanded walnut veneer. Inside the inlaid frame the drawer are decorated with burl walnut veneer. The edges of the case as well as the legs are additionally decorated with rounded molding. The sides and the top are made of flat panels nailed to the case.
This is an absolutely stunning chest of drawer that will add warmth and elegance to any space. The beautiful color of the walnut and the stunning patterns and decoration created by the veneer make this a piece that can be placed in a formal setting, as well as in a more rustic environment. The drawers all work well and can be used on a daily basis and the little secret opening of top drawer make it a fun piece to have in a home.
