Vintage Design

This exquisite set of three Gosho Ningyō (御所人形), also known as "palace dolls," is a unique and atmospheric representation of Japanese tradition. Renowned for their plump body shape and youthful appearance, these dolls symbolize good fortune and prosperity.

The set comes with its original wooden storage box and a lacquered (urushi) presentation tray.

Storage box dimensions: height 28 cm, width 42 cm, depth 34 cm.

The dolls depict variations of Momotarō (桃太郎), the Peach Boy, a beloved Japanese folk hero born from a peach. He is celebrated for his adventures, where he, along with his animal companions, battles demons.

Crafted from wood, the dolls feature a glossy, whitewashed finish characteristic of Gosho Ningyō. They are richly adorned with handmade fabrics in traditional Japanese patterns and colors such as red, gold, and silver.
