Large calyx-shaped baluster vase with a flared rim, standing on a round stepped base; colourless glass with flocculent pink, white and yellow powder fusions in the base layer, decorative layer with burgundy-coloured powder fusing, highly etched stylised decoration featuring cascading, interconnected necklaces with teardrop-shaped pendants, satin-finished surface in the background and on the inside, decorative layer polished, etched needle signature ‘Charder – Le Verre Français’ on the foot.

Manufactory: Verreries Schneider, Epinay-sur-Seine, France The brothers Ernest (1877-1937) and Charles Schneider (1881-1953) both started out at Daum Frères & Cie, Verreries de Nancy, where Ernest was responsible for sales and Charles worked as a freelance modeller and designer for the glassworks alongside his studies at the École des Baux Arts in Nancy and later in Paris. In 1913, the brothers teamed up with architect Wolf to found their own glass factory in Epinay-sur-Seine, operating under the name 'Schneider Frères & Wolf'. Due to the war, the company had to close in 1914, but the brothers kept it going after the war, starting in 1918 under the name 'Verreries Schneider'.
