About This Piece

Vintage Design

A rare and highly sculptural low table hand-carved from a single slab of solid hardwood by the Naga tribes of Northern India. Originally used as a daybed or ceremonial platform, the piece has a strikingly primitive architectural presence that translates beautifully into contemporary interiors as a monumental coffee table or bench.

The organically shaped top rests on thick integrated legs with remnants of dark iron banding, creating a powerful contrast between the softly weathered wood and the more brutalist detailing. Decades of use and exposure have left the surface with an exceptional patina — marked by natural erosion, age cracks, traces of old insect wear and a beautifully bleached texture throughout.

Its restrained form and tactile surface quality evoke the quiet minimalism associated with interiors by Axel Vervoordt or Studio KO, making it an ideal statement piece for wabi-sabi, monastic or collectible design interiors.
