Vintage Design

Elegant and dainty library or showcase, made in France around 1765 in the transition period from Louis XV to Louis XVI: a high rectangular body standing on short, curved legs with a matching curved apron, beveled edges, as well as an upper frieze zone and pagoda-like finish. The showcase can be opened to the interior, which is divided by three shelves, by means of two closable doors, which show fields with rhombus marquetry in the lower third and have glazing over the remaining height. The frieze zone repeats the rhombus pattern. The sides are decorated with fine mirrored rosewood veneer. Legs, apron, keyhole, and upper finish are decorated with gilded bronze ornamental elements, which are still committed to the outgoing Louis XV, as well as to the beginning Neoclassicism of the beginning Louis XVI. An extremely elegant piece of furniture which can be placed very well even in smaller rooms due to its delicate proportions and which fits perfectly into a classic-elegant as well as a modern ambiance. Condition: very good, min. signs of age and wear, min. abrasion, renewal of the shellac polish.
