Made in EDIT is the label for the residency program of Edit Napoli, a fair that celebrates self-producing designers and brands.
The program couples international designers with skilled craftspeople working in the region around Naples for a full month of collaborative designing and making. The goal is twofold: to give new opportunities to budding design talents while encouraging traditional artisanal workers who often struggle against the forces of the contemporary design industry. Hand in hand they produce a collection of pieces— bridging the local and the global, the past and the present, and ownership with authorship.
Designers in residence for 2019, the first edition of Edit Napoli, included New York-based Venezuelan artist and ceramicist Reinaldo Sanguino, Lebanese designer Khaled El Mays, and Amsterdam-based design studio Faberhama. Designs from the residency program were artisanally produced and exhibited at EDIT Napoli in June under the new Made in EDIT label.
