Beautiful, mid-century, bamboo and rattan magazine rack / storage basket, circa 1950's - 1960's.
Piece is of a nice size, has two handles on four feet, and is light, so it's not only easy to move from place to place, but extremely convenient in that it's multi-functional, as it could also work as storage for both kids' or pet toys, or storage for other objects (see photos.)
The design has all of the attributes of pieces made of bamboo and rattan from this period. At the front and back, are "loops" that resemble the feathers, or "plumes" of a peacock. On each side, bentwood, rattan, arched forms.
What distinguishes this magazine rack from similar designs, is that the inner base is made of formica with a "faux wood effect", so one could even place books, or other objects inside, that need to stand upright.
Piece is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with light marks, signs of age and previous use commensurate with time, as well as a patina of time, on the overall bamboo structure, rattan, handles, legs and feet (see photos.)
Piece is solid, sturdy and functional. It has only been gently cleaned with respect to its original patina of time.
Whether you live in a mid-century modern, rustic, traditional or contemporary space, this will compliment your living room, den, sunroom, bedroom, bathroom, porch, et al.
All photos taken in natural, indoor light, so colors may vary, based upon brightness, reflections, angles and perspective in which they are viewed.
