This tall Delft Blue vase by Velsen is a striking example of traditional Dutch ceramic artistry, executed in the 1950s with exceptional hand-painted detail. Its sculptural baluster silhouette—with a flared neck and foot tapering into a fluid, continuous curve—echoes classic 17th- and 18th-century forms.

Rendered in rich cobalt blue on a soft white ground, the intricate decoration features stylized peonies, tulips, and vines encircling a central bird in flight. Every feather and petal is meticulously painted by hand, highlighting the artisanal care and painterly skill that define Velsen’s mid-century workshop.
