About This Piece

Delicate portrait of an elegant woman, an open fan in her hand, leaning against a grand piano, painting signed lower right and dated 1903, it is painted by Octave Gallian, painter born in Toulon in 1855 and died in Paris in 1918 . Octave Gallian studied at the Beaux-arts in Paris with Jules Lefebvre, Gustave Boulanger and Charles Ginoux, a talented portraitist, he also loved landscapes and seascapes from his native region. Many of his paintings are present in the Art Museums of Angoulême, Toulon and the Navy.
