About This Piece

Contemporary Design

The Kume is a smoked oak side table, a low, compact table that brings the warmth of timber to the range. It offers warmth and touch where the stone and glass are cool and hard.

The oak is solid European timber, smoked to a deep, near-black brown with its grain still legible beneath the darker finish. It is the more architectural of the two oak finishes, grounded and quiet. European oak was chosen for its density as much as its grain, a timber that takes the interlocking construction without reinforcement and that improves rather than dulls with use. It is a surface meant to be lived with.

Nothing about the making is concealed. Two boards of solid oak are slotted one through the other into an interlocking cross-leg base, the join shown openly as the single detail of the design.

As a smoked oak side table it settles a space rather than crowding it, at home beside a sofa or a favourite chair. Like every Lebanto piece, the Kume is made to order in Cantù, in the historic heart of Lombardy's furniture district, from a curated material palette of full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
