Softline Wall Cabinet in Yellow by Otto Zapf for Zapf Design, 1960s

Wall cabinet in yellow and brown made of wood, lacquer film / plastic and metal pressure buttons from the 'Softline' series of the visionary designer Otto Zapf (1931 - 2018) for Zapf Design / Germany, draft from 1969.

The combination of pop art, functionality, flexibility and modular design are directional. Due to the use of experimental materials, Zapf belongs to the avant -garde of the 1960s. Of particular note in his vita are the years of collaboration with Dieter Rams and Niels Wiese Vitsoe. Zapf designed among others for Knoll, Cor, Lufthansa, de Sede and B&B Italia. In 2020 his work was curated in honor of a retrospective in Eschborn near Frankfurt. The 'Softline' series is exhibited in the constant exhibition of the 'Neue Pinakothek' in Munich.

The wall shelf on offer is supplied, but can be dismantled and combined with other elements of this series. Our shelf consists of three yellow shelf boards, one of which functions as a suspension (above) and mounted on the wall over two angle iron, as well as four yellow side parts on which the lower boards are connected.
There are also two yellow and two dark brown panels /cover plates that can be buttoned both at the back and in front. There are numerous combinations of the panels and the wall cabinet can be used both openly and closed.
