Sol LeWitt, Six Geometric Figures, 1980s, Catalogue

Rare catalog, including six reproductions of Sol Lewitt’s works, printed in Italy in 1980. Original Title: “Six geometric figures and all their double combinations”. This is a rare collection of reproductions of six wall drawings, not inscribed (white chalk or white crayon and matte black emulsion paint on the wall surface, variable dimensions), purchased from the Lisson Gallery (Grant-in-Aid) in 1980. In excellent condition, except for a minor water stain on the spine and on the cover. This little defect does not affect the overall condition of the catalog. Originally installed at the Lisson Gallery, and drawn by Jo Watanabe and David Connearn (artists authorized by Sol LeWitt), this wall work comprised only six figures: three primary figures (circle, square, and triangle), and three secondary (rectangle, trapezoid, and parallelogram). The work was then installed at the Tate Gallery between April and May 1980. In this occasion, LeWitt, supervised the drawing in its early stages, decided to add two figures to the sequence, a cross and an X, and gave the drawing the provisional working title ‘Six Geometric Figures (+ Two)’.
