Iconic ‘Roundette’ Dining Suite designed by Hans Olsen for Danish furniture maker Frem Rojle in 1962. The ‘Roundette’ dining suite for Frem Rojle Moblefabrik has become a cherished Danish classic. Loved for its petite dimensions and well executed design the ‘Roundette’ is perfect where space is at a premium. Perfectly integrated form and function define one of Denmarks most unique and desirable dining suites. Four unique matching four legged chairs integrate perfectly with the apron of the table forming a fluid and unified design object. The suite is crafted from Burmese teak with a stunning grain pattern. This rare version of this iconic dining table can be easily extended, via an integrated swing-out extension leaf, to accommodate 6 diners. The table legs screw on or off for easy moving and storage. Hans Olsen (1919-92) is one of Denmark’s master furniture designers. His unique approach is celebrated for experimentation with form, texture and different materials. Hans Olsen studied under Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy’s Furniture School. By 1953 Olsen had set up his own studio where he designed and produced a series of exciting pieces in a distinctive style, exhibiting them at the annual fairs of the Cabinetmakers Guild in Copenhagen. Size Approx: Table – H 75 cm. When extended 120 x 171 cm. When not extended 120 x 120 cm. Chairs- H to seat 44 cm H to top of back 71 cm W 46 cm D 42 cm In general good used condition. Structurally sound. There are signs of use/wear commensurate with the age. Some marks, scuffs, dings and scratches, but nothing major. The extension leaf of the table is a different colour to the rest of the table as it has barely been used. The chairs have been professionally reupholstered in a yellow bouclè fabric. The original black vinyl upholstery is in very good condition underneath the new upholstery, and this could be easily removed if you would prefer the original upholstery. Please see photos. Overall a stunning set in lovely condition considering its age.
