Tiber Landscape With Ancient Ruins is an original painting realized by Hermann Corrodi. Original oil on canvas. Hand signed on lower left: H. Corrodi. Included frame. Very good conditions with overpaintings in the sky at the upper left and at the right margin. Professional retouching in the sky above the bridge, right of the middle over former canvas damage. Hermann David Salomon Corrodi (Frascati, 23 luglio 1844 – Roma, 30 gennaio 1905). Born in Rome, the son of the Swiss painter Salomon Corrodi, he received training with his younger brother Arnold in Geneva, including the landscape painter Alexandre Calame. The Corrodi brothers were closely linked, traveling together in Europe and returning to Rome in 1866. Corrodi studied at the Accademia di San Luca, where he dedicated himself to landscape painting.Traveling and study led Hermann Corrodi to Paris, London in the 1970s, where he made contact with the English court and Vienna, where one of his paintings was awarded a gold medal. His main residence was in Rome, where he was a professor and member of the Accademia di San Luca.He also traveled to the Orient, Egypt, Syria, Turkey, Cyprus and Palestine. Corrodi's works can still be found today in all the important collections of paintings and museums.
