Vintage Design

This unique lamp is a true work of glass art, handmade by the Portuguese company JM Glass.
In 1993, the Danish Jørgen Mortensen (JM) bought the bankrupt 'Fábrica Escola Irmãos Stephens' from the state. He restarted the business as JM Glass (1993-2005), specialized in the production of high quality leadless crystal. JM Glass was known for its unique designs and high-quality workmanship, making their pieces sought after by collectors and glass art enthusiasts.

I have not been able to find a single comparable copy of this Jørgen Mortensen lamp on the internet, so you have a very unique and rare item in your hands!
Other exclusive lamps by JM Glass can be found on the internet in a price range of around 1000 - 2000 euros.

This remarkable, timeless design has a hand made glass lamp base (somewhat transparent) in dark purple and has a colour gradient from dark at the bottom to slightly lighter towards the top. Up close, you can see bubbles in the glass.
At the top of the lamp base is a silver-coloured cover plate containing the fitting holder with the cord attached. with its 4.8 kg, the lamp base is quite heavy and stands very sturdy.
The lamp is completed with a lampshade, which is glossy black on the outside and a warm gold colour on the inside.

Due to the purple glass base and gold-colored inside of the shade the lamp provides very atmospheric, diffused light.
This gem fits many different interior styles with its elegant and timeless design.

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition, only minor signs of use/ageing conistent with age:
- the lamp shade has some minor dents
- some paint damage on the white part of the socket
- minor scratches on the glass (mainly on the lower part)
