Vintage Design

Pair of cast glass sconces, Scandinavian production from the late 1950s.
The shades are in massive cast glass of an intense amber color, with a complex geometric/brutalist decorative pattern. The metal part to be applied to the wall is a simple U-shaped structure which, at the same time, holds the bulb and allows the glass shades to be anchored.
There is a small circular logo sticker on the back, but no maker's mark. For obvious stylistic similarities, the appliques could be attributed to Carl Fagerlund and have been made by Orrefors. Typical elements of Fagerlund's lamps, which are also found in these appliques, are, for example, the spherical brass screw caps, visible from the front , which serve to block the glass parts, as well as the attachment point of the electric cable, which is not hidden behind the metal structure, but comes out downwards. In this way the appliques can be electrically powered directly on the wall, or be connected, via a cable, to a socket.
