18th Century Galbée Chest of Drawers

Vintage Design

So-called Galbée chest of drawers from the 18th century. Solidly made in oak wood.

Half-height oak carcase standing on 4 block feet with elegantly curved front and profiled base. Body sides made in frame construction with 2 flattened panels each. Slightly protruding all around profiled top plate.

The ornate handles and key plates are not original. The right handle of the lower drawer has a crack, but is firm (see pictures).

Dimensions: 81 cm high, 116 cm wide, 57 cm deep

Internal dimensions of the drawers: 15 cm high, 92 cm wide, 42 cm deep

Authentic piece in ready-to-live-in working condition with age-related signs of use, including visible previous repairs, especially to the drawer fronts. The locks have been replaced.

The dresser has been stripped of the old wax, revealing the beautiful matte finish and texture of the raw oak wood.
