About This Piece

Vintage Design

A commanding and elegant early 19th century Spanish salon sofa. Carved in birch and giltwood, the generously padded back is crested with striking volutes, leafage and a central clam shell. Each end of the scrolling arms is decorated with a gilded double volute form. The sofa is completed in silk and decorative trim. Spanish, circa 1820.
