Originally designed by Alvar Aalto in the 1940s, Artek continued to produce the drawer cabinet for decades afterwards. Constructed from birch wood, the cabinets feature four drawers with integrated pulls. The top drawer has a lock, while the bottom drawer is much deeper and can be sectioned off with a separate piece of wood that can be slotted into grooves, making it perfect for filing. A second decorative inset on the bottom drawer creates the illusion of another pull. Sitting on a matching birch wood plinth, these cabinets are sleek and simple, epitomising Aalto’s design aesthetic which perfectly balances function and style.
