Émile Baes, born in Brussels on November 12, 1879, and died in Paris on January 3, 19531, was a Belgian painter, printmaker, art critic and writer.

A certificate of authenticity issued by Sabrina Egidi Expert of the Court and the C.C.I.A.A. of Rome.
This item comes from a private collection and is therefore unheard of on the market

Biography
After training in his hometown and in Paris at Joseph Stallaert's studio, Charles Baes exhibited his works in major European capitals, including Paris, where his portrait of King Albert I of Belgium, whose personal painter he was, is in the Musée des Invalides.
The presentation of this painting, which he donated to France, took place on December 3, 1932, during a ceremony presided over by the President of the Republic.

A member of the Society of the Literati of Paris, Charles Baes became Grand Officer of the Legion of Honor. On January 23, 1929, Officer of the Order of Leopold of Belgium.

He is also the author of texts and books on painting.

He is the father of Rachel Baes, a painter linked to Flemish politician Joris Van Severen.
