About This Piece

Vintage Design

This is an original sphere prism glass sphere by Holophane with aluminum finish on top and resting on a wooden base (see Misha de Potestad "Vintage Industrial Style" (ISBN 978-3-421-03998-9) page 137). This particular prism glass structure was patented by 2 physicists in Paris in the 1890s. The glass prisms (ribs) in longitudinal and transverse direction provide a very pleasant uniform diffuse room light, both upwards and downwards. Newly electrified with an E27 socket and protective ground. Incandescent or LED compatible. Dimensions: 40cm diameter, height 42cm.
