Vintage Design

An elegant mid-century Italian oval dining table, attributed to Silvio Cavatorta. Circa 1950.

The fabulous sunburst teak veneer top is a nice, well made example. The clever 'floating' top hovers above an open teak rounded form frieze, giving a sense of lightness to the design. The table stands on black enamelled metal tapering legs with brass feet. The 'floating' top affords glimpses of the cleverly designed metal support through the gap.

It is in very good to excellent original condition for its age. There are a couple of light marks to the teak top, as shown in the last two photographs, one to an end, and one to a side. The metal legs have some marks and wear loss in places.

The table top is relatively high and will comfortably seat six. It could also work very well as a desk.

There is 64cm height to the underside of the frieze from the floor.

There is 117cm in width in between the legs on the longest side.
