Small mirror with birds, Werkstatte Hagenauer Vienna, ca. 1935, brass nickel-plated, marked This delightful wall mirror is framed in an elegant way. Three arches close it on the upper side, where also a playful scene appears. Here, in floral foliage, a stylized bird flies down to snap at a petal with its beak open. The Werkstatte Hagenauer decorated utilitarian objects, such as this mirror, with such small, wonderful episodes. The delicate details reveal all the mastery of stylistic reduction that is so characteristic of the Werkstatte Hagenauer. marked with “MADE IN AUSTRIA” and “wHw” in the circle
