Reflesso Mirror by Vincenzo Castellana for DESINE

This is a mirror born from the aggregation of hexagonal forms. A tribute to the extraordinary plan of the city of Grammichele that regularly branches off from its central square in the shape of a hexagon. Just as a city grows in an orderly fashion only if it is regulated, so a form can derive from the union of other regular geometric figures. Reflex is a special mirror, a classic typology that is revived. The panels in the Valchromat coloured in mint green give all senses a note of freshness. The overall irregularity, which comes from the free association of individual hexagons, reminds us that the difference between chaos and order is only in the spontaneity of chance and in the nature of human things.

Vincenzo Castellana is art director and designer of the Desine collection. Born in Milan in 1970, he graduated from the Faculty of Architecture in Palermo where he collaborated on courses in scenography and architectural design. In 1998, he was selected by 'Designing Craft Europe' with the object 'Bidi-Tridi' and in 2005 he founded the 'Community of good product designOrientity' and 'Lp permanent laboratory', nominated by the ADI Design Index 2007 in the category Research and training in design. In December 2008, with Vanni Pasca, he founded the Sicilian delegation of the ADI, covering the role of president until 2015. 2012 he is professor of Strategic Design and Interior Architecture, in the degree course of Industrial Design and Visual Communication, at the design school of the academy Abadir in Catania.
