Seven Drawer Elm Console

with a beautifully carved apron and side spandrels that give it an unusual profile, this lovely, large console would have started off as an imposing storage coffer for documents or valuables. The three upper drawers are fitted with large drop handles and ironware across the dividing frames that would have allowed them to be secured, while smaller drawers below provide extra storage space. The legs are moulded and fit directly into the thick table top. The dark, once black lacquer finish is still mostly intact but is worn on the top surface to show the more natural elm wood and provide a nice contrast. A great size to be used as an unusual console or sideboard, with plenty of useful storage inside the seven drawers.
