Mixing contemporary and vintage designs for a happier office space

Meeting Room Makeover

Everyone loves a good makeover. So when we were feeling a bit underwhelmed by one of our meeting rooms, we naturally jumped at the opportunity to transform an uninspired space into a comfortable, functional, welcoming atmosphere that reflects that chicly easygoing Pamono style.

Of course, we wanted to mix vintage and contemporary pieces, so we turned to some of our favorite vintage dealers and contemporary designers for help. We're so proud to share the results with you—and to shout a huge thank you to Cristina Celestino, Form&Seek, Irene Maria Ganser, Pulpo , Mason Editions, Stilraum, Stonelab, Michal Fargo, and 1882 Ltd.

 

Our Editor in Chief, Wava Carpenter, visited the Stilraum vintage boutique to select a suite of vintage seating. After consulting with Stilraum owner Genja Fehr, Wava went with a classic 3-seater sofa and a set of easy chairs by Danish master Ole Wanscher, along with a couple of anonymously designed Danish side chairs. Genja reupholstered all the pieces to Wava's specifications, and we couldn't be happier. "If you're looking for accessible, high quality vintage Scandinavian furniture in Berlin," Wava says, "then Stilraum is a must-visit." She adds, "Genja has a knack for finding well-made Danish treasures that will never go out of style. And his in-house upholstery service is tops."

Because we wanted to balance all that staid Danish style with a bit of contemporary flair, Wava also reached out to German design brand Pulpo and Austrian designer Irene Maria Ganser for tables and lighting. Gansers's Albeo Table brings a textured, sculptural quality, while Pulpo's Fosco Tables and Oda Lamp offer personality-filled function.

With the accessories, we really went for it. We layered in lots of handcrafted exuberance, thanks to Serena Confalonieri's Mia Alto Rosa Vase for Mason Editions, Martina Bartoli's Tresse Mirror for Mason Editions, Cristina Celestino’s Plumage Hand-Decorated Vase for BottegaNove, Issac Monté’s Crystallised Mirror for Form&Seek, Anderssen & Voll's Ildhane candlestick holder for Nedre Foss, and Max Lamb’s Crockery Jug for 1882 Ltd. And with marble so hot right now, we asked Stonelab for whatever they could spare for us; we landed their STONELAND Collection of marble vases, 4SEASONS Barattoli marble and brass cans—designed by Studio Tagmi—and Nero Antique & Carrara Marble Block Candleholder. For the final touches, we added a rug and some lush greenery.
