Contemporary Design

This is Katharine (as in Hepburn)—sophisticated, spirited and totally unique. She is a one-of-a-kind lamp lovingly handcrafted from a gorgeous, vintage, hand-painted Royal Delfts (De Proceleyne Fles) Delft Blue (Delfts Blauw) vase, and she is paired with a custom contemporary lampshade in Dupion red blue silk with a platinum inner lining made in an atelier near Amsterdam.

The exquisite ribbed vase (or pul, jar with lid), which forms the base of the lamp, was handmade and hand-painted by one of Royal Delft’s master painters in a floral motif with a peacock. It was made in 1963, as indicated by the Royal Delft year marking CH on the bottom.
