Vintage Leather Ds35 3-Seat Sofa with 2 Matching Armchairs from de Sede, Set of 4

A De Sede living room set featuring a vintage leather DS35 3 seater sofa with two matching swivel base armchairs presented in caramel coloured leather with polished aluminium supports.

With original production starting in the mid 1960s the DS35, along with its closely related design partner the DS31, became icons of outstanding Swiss design and high end manufacture. The two models shared many of the same design elements but with the 35 having a squarer more modernist form to the 31s curves. Both came in a number of variants over the years that included changes to the stitching and piping details as well as changes to the supporting frame and feet.

The set shown here is the DS35 variant with piping details to the leather and with the polished cast aluminium feet to both the armchairs and sofa. It’s a rare version and is presented in very good vintage condition with just a few marks to the leather and aluminium frames as you would expect commensurate with age and use – you’ll also see that one of the seat back sections on the sofa is slightly offset although this does not affect the overall visual appeal or comfort (see pictures for details). For its age the leather is in very condition which would suggest that both the chairs and the sofa has been recovered at some point in their history.
However, if this is the case by reference to the photos, you can see that it was skilfully done. The set has in any event been priced with all the above detail in mind.
