About This Piece

A delightful mid-century still life composition, executed in oil onto board and dated 1946. The composition presents a slightly elevated view of an orange table adorned with an array of objects including 3 luscious fruit, a blue bowl, and a striking vase overflowing with a bouquet of flowers. Beside the table, we get a partial glimpse of a red chair as well as the surrounding backdrop that has repetitive shades. The rich colour palette is uplifting, imbuing the painting with warmth and a homely feel. Through the artist’s skillful brushwork, each object comes to life, with expressive and detailed strokes capturing intricate details as well as reflections and shadows cast on the table. This oil on board is housed in a complementary champagne-painted wood frame. The painting is in very good vintage condition, and the frame has minor scuffs but this is in keeping with its vintage style. Size: 86 x 74 cm (including frame)
