About This Piece

Vintage Design

A substantial mid 19th century Rococo style fireplace in Italian White marble. A finely carved frieze with central cartouche of a plain medallion having a beaded frame within C scrolled acanthus and foliate carving, flanked on either side with fielded panels again with foliate detail. The voluted jambs with out facing well carved acanthus scrolls. A deep well moulded in ground frames the inner and the side returns decorated with a stepped panel. All beneath a large shaped and tiered shelf. French Circa 1840 Opening Sizes 107cm W X 96cm W.
